Or make Euro plates to represent your CA plate. I like those too but after a while I figure it attracts more attention than necessary...

I drove my '04 530 for over 3 years and 100K miles and never had a problem...I get my '08 550 and get a fix it ticket. When I bought my 550, I specifically asked my dealer not to mount a front plate. They did and I was pissed, but oh well. I get into an accident and the body shop repaints the front bumper with no holes...I'm loving life again! Within 2 days out of the shop, I get pulled over and cited. Does anyone know if I can simply pay the fine without showing proof of correction? I remember years ago when you could simpy pay the fine for fix-it-tickets. Otherwise I might have to go with the velcro/tape option.

Or take a look at this... I've still been wondering if it works for the E60... not that i want it... but throwing out the idea for others...

That is a clever way of utilizing an already-made bumper hole to mount a tag but having it off to the side disrupts the symmetry of the front end.

Before I 3M'ed my front tag I considered making up some sort of hook arrangement to fasten the tag and frame to the cross-bars under the flat part of the bumper. But after giving it more thought, and feeling it would reduce air flow to radiator, I decided to stick the whole tag arrangement to the front of the car (mid-bumper) with 3M bodyside molding tape. It was relatively easy after I fastened the tag to a plain black frame with blind bolts from the rear, covered the locking nuts with black plastic caps and it's done. I have some super-duty industrial Velcro strips (like what EZPASS gives you to mount their tags on the windshield) but decided against that. Don't want my tags too easy to remove.

I've seen some placed it below by the plastic grill...and use plastic electrical wire ties.

Sam: Is there is any other reason (mods to your car, etc.) that may be provoking your front plate tickets? My cop friends tell me they could care less about front plates, but it's ultra-dark front window tints that piss them off...they want to see who's in a car before they tap on the window and ask, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" And if they already have you pulled over, adding a front plate ticket to the mix is a no-brainer.

Don't do it. Take the chance. It's cheaper to get the ticket then remove the holes later.
e60 are not the car COP looks after, it is consider a luxury sedan.

I have NEVER permanently mounted a license plate to any of my cars. After all these years I have had exactly 1 fix-it ticket for having no front plate. I simply bought a replacement front license insert for the bumper on my old E36 M3 and when I receiveed the ticket, I just installed the replacement insert with the plate attached, went to the CHP got the ticket written off and 10 minutes later, I swapped bumper inserts and drove away happy as could be. For my 545i I have switched to a product called "Bumper Plugs" these are painted to the factory color and screw into the holes left behind by the factory plate holder. With the plate removed and the Bumper Plugs installed, the car has that great BMW look without the ugly DMV look! You really never even see the Bumper Plugs at all, just the original pretty lines of the car! And thats my 2 cents....er, maybe 4 cents!
