my experience at idle is that for active steering typically it will vibrate when they are activated ie. not in 12 o'clock poisition.
At slight angle the servo motor is active therefore the vibration. It goes away when I put the wheel pointing straight.

745i doesn't have active steering so it should not vibrate.

You should definitely junk the run flat and switch to normal tyres for greater comfort and less harsh ride. The editor of the BMWCar magazine is doing the same - read the latest issue of this magazine to find out. I have style 124 with normal Goodyear F1 tyres - 245/55/R18 and the ride is good without noticeable steering wheel vibrations.

read abt brake force display activation in another thread. any idea whether our cars hve been activated or can be activated?

I think brake force display is just a gimmick. Some drivers in Singapore so blur that even if your car is stationary, they also will bump into your from behind.

haha good one kiasu ....n not all cars got brakes like a BMW. they may see it but may not stop in time....

Ed520, I am not joking. My E39 was hit from behind on the CTE when it was stationary in a traffic jam. The guy who hit me told me his old junk car's brake malfunctioned. And he had bought the car on that same day.

BFD is activated or deactivated depending on whether the law allows it in the country. In US it was allowed right from the the start when the E60 was built. EU law only allowed BFD earlier this year. This is why I had to get mine activated.
If Singapore allows it then it should be activated otherwise you'll have to wait a bit longer.

In the meantime you guys could try an emergency brake with someone standing at the side of the road to check for you.
That's what I did on mine.

LEDs are not used on E60s apart from the middle brake light light.
The normal bulbs are used, lighting a greater area of the taillight when BFD is activated.
