zag, me still around and still driving the first generation first batch E60 520i since Nov 2003 with 30k on the dial. Was tempted to change to E92 3 series coupe but decided to wait for 2009 5 series to see whether worth changing the current E60. Just sent car to Juzz4car to touch up scratches, nicks, and servicing plus installed the spring booster devise to give it more oomp for takeoff! Having test drove the 523i LCI model with 190hp, felt cheated paying more than $192k for my first gen E60 when the current much better 523i can be gotten at $177k. Well, life is like that. Those in US driving V8 550i with spare change for what we paid for 523i here.

Hi agb, retrofitting original GPS will cost S$8k. If you want a DVD system with GPS, you may need a din size for retrofitting, and my guess $2-3k should suffice. Why not try Garmin Nuvi series? It costs less than S$1k and the maps are free and updated very frequently.

Yo Zaggie, the 7th month is over and hopefully the thread will come back alive again.

Still driving my 3Y3M 520i but not going as strong. Its having a symptom of rheumatism, the engine lost power at low RPMs. For twice today, when I cruised along expressways the drive were as smooth as silk, but when I hit 2nd or 3rd lights after exiting e'ways, the RPMs just dropped and the car was crawling with its knees.

I called PML 24H Emergencies lines. An expert was despatched and without any diagnostic tools, he can tell that my fuel was contaminated, just by feeling the accelerator and listening to the roars of the engine And looking at how black the exhaust was, he could tell that I was running too rich Wow, does BMW still need any diagnostic tools?

Anyway, I refueled the petrol with the intention of diluting the contamination, and it worked. I managed to drive from East Coast to Bishan and Bishan back to Tampines, but not without the rheumatic risks that almost stalled the engine along the way. The PML guy was very attentive and responsible, he followed me all the way from East Coast to Bishan. I have to give it to PML for a job well done.

Could it really be water in the petrol or other things? Anyone of you have experienced this, especially during rainy seasons? There is no error whatsoever in the iDrive.

tategoi, old friend, I think the car is telling u it is time to retire. I installed the sprint booster and it makes my E60 520i comes alive. Very tempted to replace it with the E92 coupe. Still thinking about it.
