My iPod, through its docking station, mounted at the E60 cigarette lighter position, connects directly to the Aux-in. Sounds ok. Nothing fantastic and limited by iPod's audio quality. The original CD still sounds far better.

Yes, the Alpine iPod adaptor connecting through the Alpine processor Aux-in will sound better. However if I have a DVD MP3 player, I will probably play DVD MP3 discs. My guess is that it'll sound better than Apple iPod. Anyone tried this before? Comments?
Nuvi, I solved my interference problem already. Power and grounding issue. Connected iPod docking station power supply directly to battery (through a fuse and small cap to suppress power supply noise) and aeroplane noise disappeared.

Unfortunately, my Alpine 701 controller cannot be used to switch between audio-sources. I was told that I will need a Alpine CD/DVD unit to do that.
