Did you connect this resistor parallel with the LED, ie at the +ve and -ve terminal of the bulb power supply? A lot of power will be "wasted" as heat on this resistor. Maybe there is not much choice...

WAH! spotted in SINGAPORE...first ever collaboration between Merc and BMW appropriately badged AM5. One and only around I am sure. Hahahaha. Either that, his ride has serious identity crisis.
