Ha that's nothing, in 1982 I got my first Apple ][+ computer, it came with a whopping 48KBytes of memory, a 1MHz 8bit CPU and a 5.25 inch floppy drive that could store a massive 128kBytes of information. All this for about S$6K, inclusive for a 14inch green CRT monitor. I then paid US$300 to upgrade this monster of a PC to an unbelieveable 64KBytes of RAM and was king of the memory hill for like 2 years!
Diskettes are so expensive then, S$60 for a set of 10 in 1982. I remember the newer compatible "Super 5" floppy drives that can be made to format a few extra tracks to squeeze up to 140K. And also hack the write protect sensor on this drive to record on the other size.

By the way, my colleague bought a 4GB USB mini-thumb drive in Hong Kong for an equivalent of S$189.

Hi fellow kakies... I'll be upgrading my I.C.E. and I'm thinking of doing everything all at once when I have all the parts. I'm also going to order the the following stuffs from Doseong soon.

1. BMW NEW 5/6/3 Video Interface [attachment=27169:attachment]
2. iDrive Control Unit - for switching between BMW's and your own video using iDrive w/o using a remote
3. Backup camera

I'll probably be ordering the above items next week. PM me if you'd like to buy any of these items too.

Those were the days..... I had an exact configuration as yours + a Zilog processor (Z80) and was running Cobol and Fortran on the 64K. Was using the like of Excel with Visicalc and remembered it cost a bomb! The system came with 2 genuine Apple drives which was later chucked away in favour of the Super 5 half heights. Upgraded to a 5MB Winchester drive at 5 grand and ruled my side of the kingdom for quite a while.... I remembered we had very interesting games and subsequently put in a PAL card and hey presto, the image is on the TV screen. Come to think of it, I could have bought myself a rather powerful server today with all that I spluged.

Guys, I was browsing at Sony@Paragon on Sat and saw this amazing "Nano Thumbdrive"...

It comes in capacity of 1 GB and 2 GB.. The former costing only S$129. It comes with special on-the-fly compression (fully automated) to yield 3GB on a 1GB drive.

Look at the pictures and you will be amazed at the size... it looks smaller than a microSD yet it does not require a reader... cos its actually a thumbdrive with direct plugin to a USB port! Now you can carry a thumbdrive in your wallet as the thickness is about the same as a credit card... I will be sticking mine onto the inner strap of my watch and wear it on my wrist!

And you don't think they can get any smaller!

In 1986 when I got my first PC/XT... the most popular HD was the ST251... at 20MB... Now you get a 2GB thumbcard.... wow...
I already have one on my keychain! Mine is not Sony though; its InnoDisk and cost $60+. It has all the features you mentioned and you can partition into two sections; secure and non-secure.
