i have aux installed on my ride and in the i-drive i have the aux option displayed for selection among the CD; CD changer; radio.

it is aux-in installation. you will loose cd-changer control if you replace the cd-changer interface to ipod interface.
i have aux in. and i can select from FM - AM - CD - CDC - AUX. so far no problems.

price for installing aux has never changed... just we got to be smart about how to go about it! either one pay about $110 or $370 as you wrote.

to just spend $110 .. you need to buy the part from the part counter yourself and hand it over to your CSA and he going to charge you the installation fee. 30 bucks or something. the trick is to do it when you getting software upgrade.

anyway just an input from previous experience. this might be worth a scratch on bugaboo's collection of tips!

by the way this is regarding getting an aux in plug in the glove box and you still have the cd-changer as it is. unless you talk about replacing cd-changer with ipod interface that is $450 the last time i heard the quote.

added.. under stereo/video section

i am as confuse too!! I have aux in. just like Meng's and it operate exactly the same.i.e I can select from i-drive FM-AM-CD-CDC-AUX.

Though I play mp3 from my Sony Ericsson, I tried before playing from a friend's ipod and no problem.

Leslie, you mean you cannot play songs from CDC after installing Aux input???

Actually, that's one of the reason keeping me away from buying an iPod. Somehow, the shop ppl tend to discourage me from buying and try recommending me somethign else. They say it is not so user friendly when it come to sharing data. It is true that the iPod must syn with your own PC and therefore you can't any how download songs or video from your friend PCs?

Still it is the most popular brand on earth and I guess nobody care about this little inconvenience.
i am a fan of MP3 players. i owned all generations of iPod...still the best MP3 player around.
Most Creative Muvos'...so so but sounded better than iPod IMO...(i got them at very good prices, my wife used to work there) most of them break down after a few months.

Haha.. I used to have a Creative Muvo too. The harddisk crashed after more than one year (no more warranty) and Creative told me it is not worth repairing it. Now, I try to stay away from Creative. How do you find the new Sony walkman player?

Aux-in is merely an audio input for MP3.

iPod interface is different, it will replace your changer.

i think most of us have aux-in only for now.

Zag is correct, pass it to the CSA and install and only pay installation. some of us were not charged for programming. especially those early birds...hehe..

nice looking gadget but Sony used their proprietory sound file. only lately they allow MP3.
As with all Sony products, over priced. but i am also a fan of Sony products, waiting for the PS3.
oh, i must say the Xbox360 graphics is cool.
