Hello Singapore...I'm not from Singapore, but a good friend and colleague of mine is from there. He said that traffic is horrible, and I was just wondering how you guys are keeping your baby safe from accident? He (Tiruselvan's his name) was also telling me about the process of getting a motorcycle, especially a high CC bike. He is here in the states and returning home at the end of this week. He loves BMW's!!!

Take care guys!

Well Aaron, Singapore is one of the best cities in the world with efficient traffic system. There bound to be some bottlenecks somewhere during peak hours, or when accidents occurred, but overall it is most enjoyable to drive on Singapore roads. We have a policy of increasing the car population of not more than 3% a year, lately for the last couple of years the increase had been below 3% on average. I read that in the newspaper, any insiders think otherwise?

That explains why car is so expensive in Singapore. A 520i costs more than USD100,000 here. We pay almost 140% in taxes for a new car. We pay about USD10,000 for the right to own a car for 10 years. And our friend is paying USD36,000 annually to have his 545i on the road. But hey, its a luxury to drive in Singapore. Most of the time the roads are clear. I stay 25Km from my work place in the city, and it takes me around 30 mins to get there every morning at 8 am. Do you think the travelling time is fair?

There are many cameras mounted along the Singapore roads, you can see the traffic condition on major roads and highway in the comfort of your home. When you are free just browse around and see for yourself.

Being a safe driver ourselves helps to prevent accident. Having started driving since 2000 I have zero accident. Touch wood. In any case, I think your friend's concerns maybe unfounded. Well, do refer him here and he could join us in our meet-up and we will help when possible.

Thanks for the replies. I do hope to come over to Singapore sometime this year or next. From what I've seen (pics) and heard, Singapore is a very nice place. Maybe my friend just lives in a conjested part of town and doesn't have to leave that area too often...don't know. Anyway, thanks for the replies, and hopefully, one day we'll meet.Take care guys!
