Hi all

new here. just took delivery of my new baby, the e60 530 with 18" run flats. just wondering if anyone has anything to say about the suspension which i found to be a little stiff.

any views?
Hi edwin,

Welcome aboard. You have landed yourself on the best forum to learn about your new baby.

Unless you opted otherwise, most of our E60s 530i comes with stock 18" 123/124 style runflats.

Regarding your stiff ride, did you opt for Dynamic Drive? If you did not specifically opt for one, could you do us a favour by peering under your car to see if you are equipped thus? You could identify this option with this thread

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...indpost&p=21256

Anyway, most of us would rather feel that the runflats are rather stiff and noisy to a certain extent.

Please let us know after you get more orientated to your new ride.

Hi Edwin, welcome! great to have another E60 owner from Singapore here!

If you have sports suspension, then it might feel stiff, especially if you're used to regular sedan suspensions

Otherwise, if you feel that suspension is "siff" because of a lack of body roll, you probably have Dynamic drive! Or it could be the 18" run flats, or a combination of everything!

What colour is your ride? any pics? did you get bluetooth? now that it's finally approved by IDA, lucky folks who just ordered their cars can option for it

Oh yeah, do you have to push your idrive knob everytime you start the car to get rid of a warning message?

Humbly, we could direct him to some "obvious" look-out-fors that provides the answers without his asking further

Totoseow, regarding the lack of microphone holes at your cabin light clusters, could it be that your car does not come with phone prep (option #640)?

hi all

thanks for all the messages - no, i have not been scared off. on the contrary, really appreciate now having some views to take on board about the new baby.

first, the new baby is silver grey e60 530 with 123 18"rims and run flats. just upgraded from my old steel blue 320.

secondly, no, there's no dynamic drive on my car. i ordered the car about 6 months ago when dynamic drive was not a standard even on the 530 (is it now?) nor was blue tooth. so i got the standrard 530 package that was on offer. its a pity about the dynamic drive - would have been good.

even coming from my old 320 (which were shoed with 17" rims) i feel that the current suspension is a tad hard and the tyres noisy. i would have preferred something quieter.

while i'm online, can i ask a few more questions (sorry if the answers to these can be found elsewhere) :-

1. can the front air-bag be de-activated manually? since there must be some sensor on the front seat which sounds the seat belt alarm, there must be some minumum weight before the air-bag is activated? i need to see if i can install a child seat in front.

2. does anyone else think that the cabin lacks sufficient cubby holes to place coins, mobile phone, keys....etc?

3. can the logic-7 sound system be installed post delivery in singapore?

thanks !!

hi edwin, welcome to the forum. will try to ans ur qns ...

1) i don't think we can deactivate the airbag manually

2) yup feel there are not enough storage compartments esp in the center armrest with the box in it. really takes up lots of space

3) dun think logic 7 can be retrofitted, will be a huge project if they tried....

hope this answers ur qns

ed520 said it all....u need a weight to activate the airbags in front. 20 pounds i read.

not only r there a lack of storage....try putting something into the trays...stpped on the throttle hard n they all come flying out!..

pml screwed up on my logic 7...they forgot to order it..no retrofit...impossible..they will hv to strip out the whole car....rewire it..reconfigure i-drive etc...

if u can still do it..i suggest u get the DD. if u read thru this forum...u will see that it is the 1 item most love most.
