Steve, I would ask that check your facts. The fact is gun crimes have almost doubled 1997 when the UK ban on firearms when into effect. Check out this URL:
http://www.newsmax.com/inside_cover/guns_e...omo_code=38F3-1
Great Britain is not alone. Australia put into effect a gun ban in 1996 with similar results:
http://www.geoffmetcalf.com/aus.html
Thomas Jefferson said Said it best:
"What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms."
Also on your point about not having a gun culture enshrined in law - you did. The US 2nd Amendment had its source in British Common Law.
Also, it is important to note the following facts:
1. US Jurisdictions with the strongest gun control laws inevitable have higher rates of violent crimes. It seems criminals prefer unarmed victims.
2. At least 3 times more crimes are thwarted by armed law-abiding citizens that by the police. Further Firearms are used by civilians to stop or deter crimes far more than they are used by criminals to commit crimes.
3. Texas and 27 other stats have shall-issue concealed carry laws and have all seen a significant drop in the rate of homicides, robberies, and assaults.
Don't believe everything you see on TV. I can provide citations and sources for any of the above if you are interested.

That dropped from 75 the previous year, again according to the same Home Office report, which can be found here.
The Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics confirms that 11,346 US homicides in 2005 involved a gun.
No matter how you cut it or spin it, you are far more likely to fall victim to gun violence or be killed by a gun in the US, and far less likely to be a victim or killed by a gun in the UK.

I have a compact Heckler & Khok 40 cal that goes with me, and the best place for me is in the rear seat center console storage compartment. its very accessable when down and is in reach. When I park my ride, and if I decide to leave it in the car, then I just put up the center console so its flushed with the rear seat. That way its most likely over looked if some one was to go into my car for any reason.

I have a Hamann Gun Turret that comes out from my M-Tech Kit in the front and rear and swivels 180 degrees. It's controlled through the iDrive.
Contact Hamann if you want them to fit you with one. 1-800-CAP-DAT-ASS.

Wow this thread is scary. I didn't realize how many people carry when they're not supposed to!
On that note... I keep my agency issued Sig P229 on my hip in a Blackhawk holster and my Glock 26 9mm on my ankle.

Who said they are not supposed to carry? Depends completely on the laws that dictate carry in the state in which each particular member resides. I would venture a guess that members like myself that have chimed in are carrying firearms legally. I can't speak for everyone here but in MN we are required to take a course which tests our knowledge of the law and also live fire accuracy test before we can apply for a permit to carry.
Great agency that issues SigsP229's

here's my piece

BAHAHAHAHA. Nice. I presume you're joking being from DC?
I live in Arlington, VA... my buddies who have guns always talk about "forgetting" they have one in their cars and having to turn back and leave DC to drop them off back at home. DC has mandatory jail time for being caught with a gun in your car.

Scary? Criminals with guns=scary. Law abiding citizens carrying guns for self defense=crime deterrent.

.....thoes carrying illegally do so at their own risk of getting arrested if caught by LE.

This is the first time i read an entire 6 page thread. Even on clublexs we dont have stuff like this.
I love it!!!!Puts a smile on my face....
In NY we are not allowed to carry guns....or until we get caught with one
I do hope that everyone who says they carry is doing so legally.
I was thinking mostly about California... where most citizens cannot carry unless they are LE. I realize that gun laws are more relaxed in other parts of the country. If you can carry in your state more power to you! Be safe!
