Hi.
Here in Norway we have a differenciated road tax for those with diesel cars. Those who drive a diesel car with factory mounted oem particle filter, gets a reduction in the tax.
My car is a 525d produced in march 2004 and the CBS (iDrive service menu) shows I have a particle filter and I have the chrome double exhaust. Both should indicate that there is installed a particle filter.
Does anyone know for sure from when the particle filter was installed as standard on the E60 525d?
I have asked my dealer, but they needed to have the car on a lift to verify the particle filter
Tommy.

Tommy.
I would say cars post 09/05 have DPF as standard. I think you can get a statement from BMW Norway (or maybe BMW Germany) to prove you have the DPF. I needed one to get cheaper tax.

Straight exhaust tubes=you have the filter
Downturned exhaust tubes = you don?t.
Personally I would happily throw the whole thing away , causes higher fuel usage and additional expense... Actually when its gonna fail on my car (130000km to it..) I will remove and replace it with straight tube and get it coded away.

In my case, the DPF will give me a 15% discount in road tax, so I'll keep it on for now :-)
Is it possible to decode the week of production from the VIN?
As I understand, my car is produced just around when DPF got introduced to the E60...
Thanks for all answers.
Tommy.
