Seems to be the smart move with modern BMWs - leasing. I mean, I've done everything right by this car - always original parts, all intervals and service done. I've invested thousands into this heap of crap over the years, never even drove it cold - warmed it up even in August. Sure, I revved the engine a few times, but I only redlined it once in the entire time I've had it, and hey, I was under the impression that BMW inline-6 engines actually like to be revved. Guess what? None of that matters now - nobody's problem but mine

Thanks guys! I'll be parting the mods out over the next few days. If I can't sell the car at the auction for decent money, I'll be forced to part out the entire car

Bro, two things:
1. Shit happens.
2. Don't let such one-time events ruin who you are and what you believe in. A lot of people looked up to you in these forums - for help, for updates, and for your enthusiasm, and rightfully so. Such depressing out-of-control events happen - maybe a 3rd person analogy would be if you end up pledging to never go over the speed limit in your entire life, 50 years of good driving pass by, and a drunk driver hits your car and the police officer calls it your fault. What would you say to such a person.
That said, your words about spending time with family, getting your priorities in life straightened out, and not loosing on the opportunity to do things because of a car-obsession are absolutely correct.
