Thank you again for the advice. So once I pull the tab downward on the trans cooler, does the cooler just pop off the lower left nipple that is seen on the radiator picture? Am I to assume that reinstallation involves pressing the trans cooler on the same nipple on the new radiator and sliding the tab upward until it locks?

You don't lose any trans fluid when pulling the radiator
The transmission fluid lines connect to a separate little heat exchanger. This box connects to the radiator and flows water through it which cools the transmission fluid (or heats it up I suppose if conditions are right).
No transmission fluid actually passes through the radiator itself
Basically, the two connections on the "top" relative to this picture connect to the radiator, water passes through them. The two on the bottom are for oil. Somewhere in the middle heat is exchanged, but no transmission oil ever makes it to the radiator (barring some sort of damage to the heat exchanger of course)

Modified newer radiator
I have spoken to a BMW mechanic and the new radiators don't have the lower fitting for the front auto transcoder hose so it has to be re-routed using #11537519494 I was told.
Can anyone explain how to change that or is it pretty self explanatory? I heard it was simply a "Y" off another hose that simply needs to be replaced without the "Y" any longer. Is that correct?
I'm about ready to tackle this with all of your great posts. I will take pics and add as I do from a pretty novice, but crafty repair person.
Thanks!!

I want to access the bottom of my E60 radiator to check for a leak. I can't seem to figure out how to remove this cover. I see the two clips but I'm afraid to pry this brittle plastic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
