Wonder why the "sports" models dont have this ?? just because its a sport model doesnt mean the owners thrash them everwhere so dont need quick warmup in the winter ? ( for example )

Im not so sure the non sports have the engine cooling flaps anymore. Im sure ive read that it is only the brake cooling flaps which open as you brake(located in the front bumper) that are the part of active aerodynamics thats included on the 5 and the sport always has brake cooling.

My 2004 545i has them, and it's a German spec car. It was ordered by a Bavarian customer. I don't know if that makes them change it (because Bavaria gets damn cold in winter, we had -20c here this week).

Have them...

We dicussed them in this thread: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...amp;mode=linear

Our 530dA gets warm really fast (with or without the Defa electric block heater on).

How do you know your engine is too cold?

My 2005 E61 M-Sport imported from Erding, Germany (near Munich), does NOT have these shutters.

I keep my car in a heated garage, so no issues. I have had the EGR thermostat upgraded to the "Scandinavian" version.

I have those also. My car (MY2005) is from Germany. Never had any heating problems here in cold Finland. But it's not a diesel...

My 2004 525D also has the shutters. It's originally a german car.
Never seen them move though...

Tommy.
