The cupholders in the car are OK, but I think they were designed for Europeans and not the larger is better US philosophy. You can put a small coffee or can of pop in them and they stick like glue. But no 32 ounce super-gulp will fit. My wifes Ford and my old oldsmobile were designed for the Extra large cups. I guess BMW is more concerned about my health than the other manufacturers.

The phrase "pop" is a Midwestern US thing ... "soda" is from the Northeast ... and down South they just say "coke."
Soda vs. Pop Map

Guys, it is not that bad in the south...
OK it is
One day I'll get out of here
You are right. I love the south and the west and the east and the north. There all are different and all "good" and "bad" in their own ways. I'm a Texan so I know that brand of south or southwest.
Right on the 20 oz Coke plastic bottles at least. But I have a technique. Tip the bottles toward the driver and push up on the holder mechanism from the bottom. Usually the release is smooth using this procedure. And, the 20 oz Pepsi plactics work better. My holders do well with coke cans, Starbuck's venti coffees, the small size of Safeway flavored waters, and cokes, pepsis, etc., in the relatively small plastic bottles--16 oz, I think.

Wondered if anyone would notice that. Pop sounds normal when you say it, but looks strange when you type it. I could also have said "soda"

I love strating new topics and think I have started som einteresting ones, but the most replies I have ever gotten has been about cupholders?
Anyway - just got back from a trip and learned something that was mentioned earlier - DO NOT USE 20oz COKE (Coca-cola brand) BOTTLES in. They seem OK at first -
then there was a little "snap" - thought something fell out of the dash
turned out it was a litle part of the arn on the cupholder and when it gets above the bottom curve- LOOK OUT -
the coke bottle is now a permanent accessory to you car
On the good side it will never, ever, ever fall out on its own
So I now have my first BMW rule - no 20oz coke bottles in my car

I'm not worried about "big gulps" but it would be nice if my "BMW" stainless steel hot beverage cup would fit, don't you think?
