The phrase "pop" is a Midwestern US thing ... "soda" is from the Northeast ... and down South they just say "coke."
There was a famous comedian who had a routine about how he knew that God was a southerner.
Among his reasons was... southerners say Coke... northerers say Pop. He said to say "pop" you basically have to scrunch up your butt cheeks... and that God would never scrunch his butt to ask for a Coke.

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
I have one coffee mug that I only use for my BMW - it has a smaller base with a larger top and fits perfectly. Everything else I have tried I worry about poping out. And, don't even try a paper coffee cup.
Likewise on my SUV, I can put anything in the cup holders.
Oh well, the price you pay for the driving experience.
