Good Luck!!!

This is the right answer. Even if you don't have warranty the BMW tape is the best solution.

Petroleum jelly will work, but you will also get it on you from time to time. Wife/mistress/girlfriend/lover ... or all of them will get it on their skirt occasionally. It also picks up dirt. Finally, you have to do it again after each car wash.

Vacuuming, etc. won't solve the problem.

Cheers

Good idea on the tape, I will also ask BMW to do this.

One annoying thing in my car is the crackling noises coming from the back seat itself. Mostly from the center arm rest even when it is not deployed.
Not sure how to decrease the amount of noise generated because the weather is getting colder so everything contracts.

My 335xi had the same issue as well as my M5. Tried the following:

Autosol Rubber Care (Gummi Pflege), Used by BMW until 2008 or so. Works for about 1-2 weeks.
There was another product that cost almost $50 that was supposed to be better but I dont think it's sold anymore.
The best one so far has been plain old Armor all. Spray some on a rug and then wipe all the rubber seals with it. No more creaks for at least 6 months at a time.

Yeah, if you ever figure this out I've like to hear it. The Folding back seat is the only thing left creaking in my car.

For the rear seat you can add a "velevet 3M tape" to the top where the back of the seat meets the edge of the outer frame.
