i have noticed that when i have the A/C on for a while that when i get out of the car the heat coming from the engine is very high. Is this normal

also noticed that the noise from my deisel engine is very loud after i have been on a long drive again is this normal.

on the issue of long motorway drives i did a 300 mile return journey and my computer was only showing a mpg of 25. again does this not seem to little for a 530d

as it was covered in some other thread here, diesel engine are sensitive to realy hot wether (air).....

The loud noise from the diesel engine is probably the engine cooling fan under the front bumber. If realy hot diesel cars set this fan much more eairlier than gasoline cars. Go sit by a trafic light in a hot day and you will hear it. Especialy X5 3.0d "breath very heavy" when toooooo hot.
I had this on my Audi 2.5TDI too.

In my opinion A/C does not effect that much engines temp, I mean my 530i engine is pretty hot after long ride.

About the mpg, I dunno, other 530d guys should know

Had a 530d - does seem a little low, maybe about 5mpg (ish) low.

I noticed things similars to you. Sometimes when I get out of the car, I feel heat coming from under the car. For me, it comes from the exhaust line.

Had it sometimes in Belgium and was worrying a little bit before going 2 weeks in Italy. But in Italy, it happened only once at the beginning then nothing. May be my car doen't like the Belgian weather

I decide not to worry about it anymore.

On the MPG I average between 36 to 44 on a long motorway drive. Thrashing around town it goes down to 30 to 33 mpg. When I first got it I though the fuel consumption was terrible, until I realised the computers units were US/mpg.

Once this was adjusted to UK/mpg readings made more sense.
