Small victory. After reading through all the info, I now see that the MPM functions were relocated to the Body Gateway Module for my year. I know that one was dead too, but at least now I'll be able to kill 2 birds with 1 stone (windows and iDrive I'm hoping).

>up to 09/2005: The micro-power module (MPM) is located in the spare-wheel well.
> From 09/2005: The MPM function is integrated into the body-gateway module (KGM).

Already more info than I got from the dealer. I also thought that was the MPM. Do you know what are the other functions of the Body gateway module?

From what I've seen in the WDS that was provided in this thread, it seems to control the windows, some CAN bus (guessing this is where the communication happens with iDrive, but that's just a Wild A** Guess), Exit lights, mirrors...

Found this link, this could be very helpful it explains everything about the gateway module and more. Just save it and do a search on it for whatever module.

Pretty sure it's the MPM in the trunk. Same thing happened to me, iDrive was shot, dead screen but engine turned on and the car was able to be driven. Dealer wanted $1000+ to fix, I just bought the part and installed in 2 mins for less than a quarter of that price. Start there and see if that helps.

That PDF looks like it will be really useful. Thanks.

It seems like it's definitely the MPM functions, but after 2005, the functions of the MPM were moved to the KGM (it actually sounds like I know what I'm talking about lol) which is the Body gateway module behind the fuse box in the glove compartment.

Update: I now believe I have all the possible modules that could be dead out of the car. I was able to get the KGM (body gateway module) out finally after struggling with how to access it behind the glove box. Now I just wish there was a way to test the individual modules

I should be getting a replacement body gateway module this week, so I'll let everyone know how that works out.

I also heard that the module has to be programmed. Would be cool if you could post a pic so we can see what the area looks like. I should hear from the dealer tomorrow so I'll have some info to share.

Sure thing. I'll try taking pictures with my phone and post them in a few.

Photo through the glove compartment with the fuse box exposed. I'd already taken out the modules before taking these pics, so these will just show the empty holders.
