The one I sat in on a 530 did not seem to do so. Is the 550 headrest sport seat different from the 530?

I have sport seats and the headrest only goes up and down!

I have the regular seat, I thought the headrest can pivot from the top but when I go try it the headrest actually pivot on the bottom part, don't know if I am saying it clearly but the point is I don't understand why the headrest pivot on the bottom part.

My salesman told me that the Comfort seats were a waste of money.? All i was getting was adjustable side bolsters.? Frankly after 18,000 miles,? I think the sports seats are just a bit too hard.? Several of my passengers complain especially about getting in and out with the thigh support impaling you.? Comfort seats will be a must next time around.? I am as much of an enthusiast as any one on this forum but cannot argue when I am told that the Acura RL is more comfortable or for that matter the Honda Odyssey.? Just because it handles like a dream doesn't mean it should give you a butt ache.? Comfort seats next time for sure.

go back & tell your sales guy that he's incompetent(sp).... did he at least offer you a test ride in a car with comfort seats?

differences:
Adjustable Side Bolsters
Adjustable upper part of backrest
Lumbar support does NOT stick out as far
"pillow" headrest
Neck/Head support on headrest
MUCH SOFTER!

i'm not sure .. does the headrest go up & down by power on the sport seats?

What model is that in the middle? I've never seen a BMW sunroof open up all the way to the backseat. I know it's just an illustration of the seats but just curious.

The Comfort Seats also include ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS, which are not available on the Sport or Standard seats. Head Restraints move forward to protect the neck in rear end collisions.

When I was shopping for an E60, I did not see many cars with comfort seats. I guess the dealer figures that buyers aren't as willing to pay a thousand dollars more for seats. I might have gotten them if they had one on the lot with the colors I wanted. I guess I could have sat in a 7 series to see if the seats were worth the price. I guess I'll just have to wait till I get my next E60.

BetterMakeWay,

Great pics for comparison, I see what u mean. I'm 5'10" 165lb and have sport seats. They are firm and that's the way I like them. Drove around Germany for 1800+ miles during ED and still love them, then again I drive stick too so i'm not to sane.

The head-rest goes up and down electronically and the bottom part of the the head-rest pivots back and forward manually. I have never rested my head back on any car when driving.

During my shopping I tested the comfort seat and agreed with the sale manager that it was to soft and spacious for my liking. Bodies come in all sizes and this is a feature that most be decided on your own I think.

Didn't read the whole thread, but if you're worried about safety, the head restraints on the sports seats should do the job fine.

The sports seats could use additional side bolstering. I'm not exactly little, 6'3 210, but feel that the seats engulf me while providing little support.

Actually, the adjustable side bolsters on the comfort seats make it possible to secure a more snug fit than is available on the sport seats.

I agree, though, try 'em both to see which you prefer.
