Surely an auto box + leather are the most important for residuals? Anything else is a bonus

you can tell in online quote calculators from PCP lease co's if things affect residuals.

With this in mind, metallic paint has a high residual.

Auto box and leather dont seem to affec the 'future guaranteed value' much more than (the proportion of) it cost you to add them in the first place!

cheers

The numbers may be a factor.

There is, though, value in saved opportunity cost in possibly being able to secure a quicker sale.

I was with a friend (a year ago) whilst choosing his options for an E60 and he went for Leather / Auto / Media pack and that's it
(BTW Metallic paint was standard on the model he chose, but if not then it is a MUST).

Generally all options are worthless when you come to sell the car, but some of them will make your car more desirable and these are namely (Metallic, Leather, Automatic and nowadays Sat Nav). So, you'll have to weigh your personal needs (the options that you desire Vs the the sellability of the car if you're going to keep it for 3 years or less).

Most of my mates when they buy their cars (once they decided on the model) they look for these particular 3 options and many (I am one of them) won't buy a car with cloth interior or non-metallic paint.

We all seem to be agreed on that.

"Saleability" has an opportunity cost saving.

If that confusion is not knowing the term "opportunity cost" then Wikipedia sums it up as
In economics, opportunity cost, or economic cost, is the cost of something in terms of an opportunity forgone (and the benefits that could be received from that opportunity), or the most valuable forgone alternative, i.e. the second best alternative.
I would be amazed if that helped!!

In the USA I dont think the mettalic paint does anything for the re-sale value. The jet-black paint (non-metallic) is the number 1 color ordered..
