Im interested in changing out the factory stereo so that I can have a USB port and other features my 2008 does not current offer. I cant seem to find solid information on what stereos would fit the vehicle. Is this going to be something I can only replace with a BMW stereo? or can use a "after market" product.

Any experience out there?

 

ive looked and looked. it seems stock is all there is, get a bluetooth reciever or cig plug thing that takes usb. homespot nfc i think is the way im going to go and then just stream everything. i dont want to go back to 1000s of cds in 2014. lol

 

Ugh, that is discouraging. I did buy a USB adapter for the cig lighter but that only charged my phone. What is the "homespot nfc" you mentioned? How does that work?

 

Check out bimmertech.net they have aux and USB retrofit kits. Also whole i drive retrofits too

 

I think I will give the $30 homespot a try before dropping $650 on a retrofit. I appreciate the feedback though. Always nice to know where to find additional parts, etc...
