There is no MPEG2 decoder on the CCC. The display controller is a Philips product that drives the LVDS display, it has no MPEG2 decode or assist. In theroy it could be done in software but I have not yet determined how many MIPS of performance are needed to decode MPEG2 on the BMW solution... So bottom line no DVD playback.
It seems the rear seat entertainment option has either an Analog devices or LSI logic decode assist. I cannot be sure as I haven't seen this option in the flesh yet.
