Only NA cars, I read.

Extended warranties offered (I also read up to 10 years), be sure to get them on paper...

They would probably extend the warranty only for airbags for 10 yrs. Probably not the whole car. And I hope I am wrong on this
The 10 year warranty is just for the seat sensor in the passenger seat.

" Under the extended warranty program, the occupant detection mat in a vehicle that experiences this specific issue will be replaced at no charge to the customer."

Exclamation

So check THIS out guys.. I was watching the news on the treadmill at the gym last night and damned near fell off when the announcement came about BMW recalling 200,000 airbag sensors!! I have an '04 545i and just paid $1200+ to get the passenger "sensor mat" replaced. My business partner had sat on the edge of the passenger seat just to reach into my car to get something off the dash and it caused the 'PASSENGER AIRBAG MALFUNCTION FAULT' to come onto the NAV screen permanently.
I could hardly sleep out of both excitement to possibly get my money back and nervousness that there's ALWAYS the chance that BMW will come-up with SOME clause saying that those who'd already had the problem won't get reimbursed.

So i called the dealership this morning and spoke to my favorite service rep. -- he spoke with the service manager and called me back an hour later to say that until they received the info on the issue in a few weeks, he had no way of telling me whether they would agree to reimburse. I HATE politics and shadiness.

Everyone pray for me! I want my $1200 back!!!!!!! I've got 90K on my 5 and had to hand-over my debit card with a very sad expression on my face (despite the fact that the service advisor was pretty hot -- making it easier to do whatever she said).

-Cheers

yes, call them to ensure they have your name and address associated with the car. If haven't registered with BMW NA after buying the car, this is the time to do so ! you will need the last seven of the VIN when you call them.
