If I recall, I had the issue about 18 months ago and it was repaired under warranty. I wonder if that means I will still have to go in?

Let's see if I get a letter......

Just called the local dealership and they had no idea of the recall. I actuall gave them a link so they could read more about it.

Isn't this the same message that many of us received on our I-drive indicating a Passenger Restraint Fault in which the dealer replaced this particular mat.

Glad I have a 2007. That blows, but then again, who cares about your passenger.

I noticed that when a passenger sits in the seat the airbag light flashes on and off this started happening couple months ago.

I just called BMW NA to confirm that they had the right address for me, etc. and they said that the Recall vehicles will be finalized by end of Sept. and letter will be sent out.

I have had the Passenger Restraint system error in my iDrive for a couple of months and have an appointment with the SA to get it fixed in early Sept. But now I am going to wait till I get more details about the recall and if I can get it fixed for free (I am out of warranty)! BMW also said that if I did get it fixed before I got the letter and it turned out that my car was under recall, then they would reimburse the cost.

Another note: BMW did say that it is for the 5 series 'Model' year 04-06 and not to be confused with the 'production year" (mine is production 09/03).
