Now that's a good idea - make it so we can use one of the programmable buttons to turn on the PDC.

Premium Sound
Satellite Radio

The programable buttons should be made so that we can assign them to anything we want.... not just the limited list of choices we have now.
That would be really nice, I think.

YA steering wheel button PDC control would be AWESOME! I have no use for one of the buttons right now... One is for radio and the other is just iDrive screen off but its useless cuz its not really "off" the backlight is still on.
I too like to mess with PDC while at stop lights.. I like to know how close the guy behind me is... some people stop less than 1 feet from my bumper!!! its a constant tone!

My Ride: 2005 545i, Black on black. 6spd MT, Nav, sports package.
What I would like would be speed-sensitive PDC... Basically sometimes I just want to punch it in reverse, but I know that if i take off too quick, the system will be too late in letting me know that there is something behind me.
It would be cool if it went off sooner if I am moving faster, just as a warning saying "STOP, IDIOT!!!"

I just noticed a difference on my E60 pdc and my friends MB CLK .
bmw PDC starts as soon as I put the gear on reverse or when I press the PDC button on my control pannel.
I noticed that on MB cars PDC starts as soon as the car slows down to lower then 25 km/h this is great when slowing down to hit a traffic light or a stop sign or in your parking garage
I noticed this and now i find my self pressing the pdc button everytime i slow down to see how far I am from obstacles. and i'd rather have it automatic.
Maybe some of you find the beeping annoying but trust me you will find dents on your bumpers more annoying (god forbids? )
just wanted to know what you think about this
Having got both a benz and a bmw, the mercedes system is better for a few reasons some of which have been brought up already.
1 , mercedes system is on when your going below speed , which means when driving into spaces you can judge your distance.
2 mercedes system only beeps when you get too close to an object , i.e. into the red pannel.
having said that , the I drive screen with the changing colours is clever...
Trust me , the grass is always greener but i get to choose which greener bit of grass to be on every morning
