Blank idrive screen???

My Ride: 2007 530i, Steptronic 6, Silver Gray, Black Dakota leather, Anthracite wood, Premium pkg, Sport pkg, Cold Weather pkg, Premium Sound, pro nav, Active Steering, Park Distance, folding rear seats.
I pick my car Monday 13 Nov 
I washed my car to day for the first time. I noticed afterwards that my idrive screen was blank and my saved sittings were completely erased. I could not even readjust my steering wheel. I drove to the nearest BMW service center; they told me the only electrician they have is on two weeks vacation and they asked me if I wanted to leave the car with them. Lol
I took my car to a different service center and the chief service manager checked told me right on the spot that my car had a problem, that is common on the new e60?s, water seeps in through the top and side draining duct and causes an electric shortage disabling the idrive computer. He told me it would take two days to fix and that they would replace the part that protects the computer from water with a new and improved part. In addition they would clear, reseal the duct, update and reprogram my car.
Several hours later after everything dried completely I noticed, everything worked normal again. He told me that this will continue to happen until it is repaired.

Really? Ouch... I've heard of reports of that hapenning here but not that many... doesnt sound that common.
My car's been through 2 winters... and countless car washes and it hasnt happened yet... I hope the electronics are not getting wet in there everytime and shortening their life span. *knock on wood*
