Seriously, these are classic signs of CO poisoning! I wonder if there is any way that exhaust fumes are being sucked into rear window or trunk vent openings? Front passengers are bathed in fresh air from the dashboard, but back seat dwellers, especially if the console vents are turned off, have less air flow.
Anybody remember riding in those third rear-facing station wagon seats, and having Dad crack the back tailgate window for "ventilation?" I couldn't tell whether you got sicker from the receding-view vantage point or the intake of the fumes. And we thought those roof vanes were to keep the dust off the window??
I have a sophisticated CO detector, but it has to be used in warm spaces. Anybody else got one and live in a warmer place?
Cheers,
Ray Hull

CO? You mean Carbon monoxide? I can't imagine where it should come from. The engine doesn't produce much CO. But CO2 instead

My kids ride in the back seat all the time and I have never had a complaint of car sickness, being dizzy or anything out of the ordinary. Maybe sitting up in their car seats helps visually but that only puts them up to about the height of an adult. And don't worry, the wife complains all the time that I'm going to kill her and the kids the way I drive, so it's not due to me driving less aggressively when the kids are on board!

Seriously you need to get your exhaust system checked. I know some here are having a laugh about this but the consequences of this if it is the exhaust sytem could be fatal. Get it checked as a matter of urgency.

You can do it to anyone in any sort of car. Just whip them around enough.
One time I was in some long term training and there was this girl in our trainging team that we all hated. She always bitched and moaned about everything.
She started to complain how she was feeling a little sick while four of us were driving to an outing. I was driving in the hills between San Francisco and Monterrey in Califoria. I spun around more curves and up and down the hills as fast as possible. She started to complain more about how ill she felt so the faster I drove.
Eventually we had to stop so she could puke.
It was the highlight of our day.
