Man you need to chill. Stupid measurments!!!!??? Even if we want to follow the whole world...Good luck changing eveything in the country to match the world.

Also from where did you get that the 530i will get 270HP? Do you mean the current 3.0 engine will be bumped to 270hp or the new twin turbo engine is going to be detuned to 270HP and called 530i?

Sorry for that, aybeesea has it right.

No offence, but I am more for the metric system.

Anyway it's a lot of calculations has be done to get it right...

I have read about the new N54B30 engine with Direct Injection,
this will be the new 530i with some + 270 hp.

The 535i (N54B35 engine) will replace the 540i but maybe no in the US
(tou love your V8's) and the 550i will get more power (see below).

My guess is that this will happen when the E60 '07 model is lauched in September
this fall or then it will happen in March '07, with I doubt.

I would not put the $$ on March because the facelift will happen in September '07
when the official BMW MY will change here in Europe to '08 and a only half year with
new engines is too short of an time.

As said, all is educated quessing only.

Also another confusion factor is after you have converted PW to HP metric u then have to convert to SAE for US consumption. In round numbers the 306 metric HP becomes 300 (+some fraction) SAE HP (also known as International) all from 225 Kw (Kilowatts). Many conversion programs abound - do a google for many versions. Also the Nm will convert to 295 ft-lb in a conversion program but BMWNA announced that the US version of 335i bi-turbo would be 300 ft-lb.

ANOTHER REASON to put your location (at least the country) is to see what measurements you might be using.

The new twin turbo 6 is hot. A friend of mine who ordered a 335i can't stop talking about it. Apparently, from converting the German BMW specs on the engine, he said it gets something like 28/36 gas mileage. Pretty insane.

Also, this engine is not a Valvetronic engine. BMW has stated that direct injection and Valvetronic don't "mix". So I wonder if we'll see an abrupt departure from Valvetronic and see a complete discarding of all the current engines. Interesting question to ponder...
