I bought my 08 535xiT a month ago with 72K miles on the clock. A little scary but after reading some of the posts on this thread, I'll sleep better now.

Email Mike Miller : techtalk@roundel.org
And ask for Old School Maintenance Schedule.pdf

He has done a extensive write up on maintenance of BMW and on page
Once you get that file then you can see his thought abt flushing ATF on non-maintained AT cars on page 18

I can't post the file as it's copyrighted and he will ask me to take it down
I just GOOGLE'd it and found a copy right off. It seems to be all over the place. Thanks for info. reading it now.

What is your conclusion? My 04 530 now has 95k miles on it and I'm still unsure what to do. Leave it to cause less problems or flush it now. Indy shops have told me to leave it alone due to the plastic pan/filter and a BMW dealership won't touch the tranny fluid!

My '07 530i just hit 78000 and still running strong. Not planning on getting rid of it anytime soon.

I did my pan and then drove it for 2K miles and did another flush at 98K.....what's the problem? if you use the OE fluids you shouldn't have an issue. Check the DIY section. Repalce the pan/filter combo and use OE fluids. Napa carries Pentosin ATF+1 for around $14 liter. Dealership will do a flush for you for like $800 LOL

My 2005 E61 535D has done 124K miles without major problem. Just had the MAF meter changed as she was hunting between 1,300 and 1.900 revs. Will know tomorrow if it has been cured!

I sold my 2002 E39 530D Sport a few months ago and she had reached 256K miles and was solid (I've regretted it ever since). All 6 injector pressures were within 1.5% of each other even at that mileage.

I just hope the 535D can log up a quarter of a million miles also.
