Look in front of the engine on the passenger side where the vaccum pump is. If you see oil underneath the pump, the seal for the pump may have failed. But before going off to get this pump replaced, I'd suggest getting a can of engine degreaser and thoroughly cleaning the area. It might turn out to be ok. If that's ok, there's an oil-peressure switch just below the pump which also fails over time. Mine turned out to be the oil-pressure switch which can be replaced with a dealer part for ~$13 and about an hour of elbow grease.

I've seen loads of 530D's here in the UK with 180'000 miles plus, all still going strong, not smoking or leaking, have to say that they all seem to have full service history though - guessing the regular maintenance is the key.
My 530D has just gone onto 100k miles and is running great :-)

Have an 07 530i @ 110K. Runs great just started with an intermittent code P1554. Comes on for two days then goes out for a month or so then comes back again. I haven't been erasing it because my CPO is still valid and I will take it in for diagnostics.

Other then that normal service. Runs like new and the trouble code doesn't appear to affect engine performance so not worried at this time.

just hit 120k on my 05 530i, minor problems not too bad. active steerings not working, idrive is out, and my suspension is kinda funny but other than that nothing a little tlc cant take care of. But with all the trouble i've been through with the car, i'd do it all over again.
