If you shove a gun in their lips, they'll probably help you.

Thats sort of a one shot deal(no pun intended) which I like to save for the teller at the bank. Then you just go back to BMW and trade for a new 08 and pay cash.
More efficient.

Has anyone ever confirmed the rumor that you can only do the CIP/PROGMAN updates a limited number of times? My car has had a least 6 upgrades so far. It seems strange that there would be a limit.

For example firmware flash memory (EEPROM) in DVD drives has a "limited" number of writes before it's "worn out" (but it's a number in the 100's).

I upload Norman and Windows updates all the time
My cable digital-TV does so also...
My E60 will go for the first service next Tuesday (30.1.).
CIP 24 wanted cause of malfunctions with AC manual control fan, rain sensor and RPA (still).

upgrade limit would probably be limited to the number of flashes you can perform on the EEPROM/Flash chip. Typically a few thousand.. but these components are seimens technology... who the hell knows...
