skeematics,

Doesn't replacing the BST require tearing out everything to run the cable from the rear to the front?
I've got a 2007 530i and found a BST from a 2004 e60. You think this will work as a good replacement???

Does the Check engine light come on if the bst is at fault. I did a scan and I got error code for left rear passanger restraint and BST cable..? but I have no airbag lights or etc on dash.. Code 93B5 & 93B2

The technician at a local shop was able to replace the BST cable without removing the upper part of rear seat. But he did have to remove the lower part. You will need an extra set of hands if you are doing it yourself.

As for using an '04 cable on your '07, i would check with a reputable dealer or shop to see if it would work prior to installation. I recommend just spending the extra money for a new cable just for peace of mind. I bought mine online for $260.
