Advice Requested: Main Wiring Harness
It's been a LONG time since I've posted but desperate times call for desperate measures. Here's the deal. I ran over a rock (see: boulder) in the middle of the road in Atlanta a week ago. I had cars on either side of me so I couldn't do a thing about it....sigh.
Active steering malfunction comes on immediately. I take it a few days later to get an alignment and they are able to without too much problem but still have the error message.
I take it in today to my indy in ATL to get the code reset (or so I thought) and it turns out the rock/boulder hit apparently the least lucky spot ever and then continued to hit that spot until severing a grouping of cables against a bolt underneath the front passenger seat.
The shop looks up the part and its the "Main Wiring Harness" (61116975093)...the part is listed for $8,571.47. They're also quoting me approximately $4,000 for the labor. $12,000 is obviously a LOT of money so any help would be much appreciated.
How can I be assured they have the correct part number and they've diagnosed it correctly? Picture attached below taken when the car was in the air at the shop....almost directly underneath the passenger seat. They did say that there is a front portion that runs to the front of the car that is NOT where the impact was. It is the portion that stems all throughout the back of the vehicle.
Option 1: Have shop attempt to repair harness/wires at the source of impact (potentially up to 6 hours of labor, approximately $600, with no guarantee of a fix)
Option 2: See if insurance may cover the new parts and labor to fix for $12k and pay deductible
Option 3: Hopefully there's a door number 3? Pray they have the wrong part #.
Thanks in advance to anyone with any ideas!

If you have collision coverage on your policy, your auto insurance will cover it. I work for an insurance company. If you pursue that route and need some insight/help, feel free to PM me.
Good luck with the car!

+1 on the insurance! If you don't have the coverage, I would trying to repair it.

Thanks Kyle and Tony!
Anyone else dealt with this enough to know if a repair may be realistic/possible instead of a replacement?

I'd have another shop look at the car. Replacing a complete chassis wiring harness is NOT fun. Most mechanics would do anything possible to avoid doing something like that.
