My Ride: On order: 530xi, R6, Oxford Green, Steptronic, Nav, HUD...

My Dealer tells me the 550i will get the new valvetronic and be availale next Fall for the 2006 MY. No specs on the engine for now. No 550xi version announced yet either.

Is it an entirely new engine or a tweaked N62 4.4, or the engine from the X5 4.8is?

They can tweak .6 L more out of the N62? I would be suprised... even the 4.8is... isnt that a tweaked from the 4.6? tweaking it more!

Guessing new engine...

Someone I know just got the X5 4.8 and he sreams loudly at the gas station. Great engine but I can't see BMW going to a gas hog engine on their 5 or even 7 series. (M5 excluded of course)
