Please get a grip on reality. The figures you are referring to all are from magazines.
And, here are more magazine numbers for the 5325d not given in my last several posts. These posts were biased in favor of the 535d since I left these data out.
Here is a straight-line performance test of a 535d--posted on the BWM Germany website.
...............................Steptronics
....................................535d
0-40 km/h.....................2.0
0-60 km/h.....................3.5
8-80 km/h.....................5.0
0-100 km/h...................7.1
0-120 km/h...................9.5
0-140 km/h.................12.4
0-160 km/h.................16.4

I for one have driven both the 535d and 545i and i KNOW what you mean much better than people that are pulling statements out of their @sses .. 545i vs 535d stock there is no comparison . 545i vs tuned 535d will be much harder to beat but definitely not impossible.
And besides on top of everything else we now have the 550i to play with

Apology excepted. I'm sorry you found my remarks about "boring tests" etc to be highly offensive but this is my opinion, please do not disrespect my opinions as you have kindly ordered me not to be so disrespectful of other peoples opinions, preferences and values. I'm not out to flame any person on this forum it is only my opinion.... ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

This thread is very messy, refering to like five different tests in either mph or kph (and I can't remember how many old shoes or elbows there goes per kilometer
)... And the 545i is surly the faster car, but it's not THAT much faster. I can't see hos this discussion will be able to go futher on without a real race! So come on! ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Here is every thing we know at this point about 0 to 100 MPH.
All Steptronics:
.......................545i..............
............MT........RT..........MT
.........Aug-04...Jun-05...Oct-05....535d (Ger Mag)....535d (Ger Mag)...545i (Ger Mag)
0-X.....13.70...13.70......13.80
0-100..13.60.................13.60.....15.1......... ................16.4.......................14.9
X = 102.1, 104, and 102.8, respectively
According the the 3 US mags, the 545i gets to 102.1, 104, and 102.8 in the 1/4 in 13.70, 13.70, and 13.80, respectively. The best reported time to only 100 MPH for the 535d is 15.1. That is a huge difference--many, many car lengths. The same conclusion applies if we look only at 0-100 data--the 545i is many, many car lengths ahead at 100 MPH. We have two highly questionable mangazine results--in orange above. I don't think they merit serious attention. But, even if we allow them as evidence, the preponderance of evidence says the 545i is much faster in a straight line.
New: What if we just average 0 -100 for the 545i (3 items) and the 535d (2 items). The averages are 545i = 14.03 to 100 MPH and 535d = 15.75 to 100 MPH. The difference in 0 to 100 MPH, 1.72 secs. in favor of the 545i, implies a huge number of car lenghts difference, in favor of the 545i, to 100 MPH.

The threads always are messy. Yes, a real race would be good. But, doesn't the following, which I posted above, deal with your MPH/KPH issue pretty well?

Yeah and the German test 700700 (and I later on.. the one you added to your table.) says 0-100mph (161kph) 535d: 15.1s and 545i: 14.9s. Just hard facts, just like yours.

I added something to the above post while you were posting. Sorry, check it out. Don't you think we should ignore the two questionable tests or average all of them? And, note that the US mag test that did not provide 0-100 data gave the fastest 0-60 of the batch for the 545i--5.2 secs.

Of course the 535d is a stunner in performance terms (and the E420CDI mercedes is even faster), but its not in the same league as a big v8 that sustains near peak torque throughout the rev range

Sigh. It was between he and Znod (I). You have no business seconding either of us on this matter unless, by seconding as you did, your intention is to disrespect me. Is that the idea?
