Once again the forum members overcome the darkside and the forces of evil
Makes it all worth the price of admission and love to hear/see these stories of overcoming the easy way out by many of the dealers.

Really satisfying to see the real good of banding together in such a worthwhile effort to get the most out of our BMW experience

To all those that pushed for this outcome.

All right, after 6,000 miles and 5 visits (10 trips), my tapping noises are finally GONE!!!

The culprit for my pain is formally causes by a slacky "Cam Chain Tesnsioner".? When CCT warms up, it will expand a bit and so it would not make any noise.? That's why it only taps in the first 5 minutes when cold.

Now, my engine is behaving like it should. I can still detect a very faint, slight tapping from the engine bay, but it is so slight and goes away in 60 seconds. I can definitely live with this, as I think it is normal.

Thanks again for all who helped me to make my case with BMWNA.? I would have already sold my car if it wasn't for your help.? I just wish I asked for help sooner and be more persistent at it.

I am glad that they didn't have to replace the Valvetronic Intermediate Valve, as ANDY545 and Epoii had.? Doing so, it would require that my engine to be opened and who know what can happen down the road. But I was willing to go through it if replacing the CCT still did not work.

For all whom are interested, the sound clip of my engine before the fix is posted above.? You can hear for yourself to see what it's like to live with a noisy engine for 6,000 miles on a 65K+ new automobile.? I am sure you won't believe why the dealers did not want to fix my car in the first place.

Glad it worked out my man!

Thanks for following through on the posting so that we can reference the solution if we encounter the same issues. Thanks!

I've read up on lemon law a bit, and be sure you get a written statement from that dealer (service manager) stating that the noise is 'normal' and there is nothing that can be done. Do the same from the FSE - IN WRITING. Then you have written documentation that shows them not taking your case as they should, and you contact a lemon law attorney and you get your money back - that's an easy one for a lemon law attorney. If you are in CA, you will have an even easier time, as there is an association (can't remember the name) that will file a grievance to BMWNA on your behalf, and watch how quickly BMWNA responds then!

I have retained all documents of my repair. All of them prior to this last one either says "problem not found" or "condition normal".

I am going to keep my car as I told the FSE, once the car has been fixed. It is now (I hope permanently). There is just something about my car that I am deeply attach to. Maybe it's the European Delivery that did it for me. Besides, I am keeping this car because I really didn't enjoy the agony of having to wait 4-5 months again for another car.

My Service Advisor and the FSE are understanding and try everything he could to help. It's his boss (Service Director) who does not want to recognize my noise problems. However, it's nice and comforting to know that there is always the "lemon law" to protect the consumers.
