They are ordering the parts right now, and I am still driving my own car. When the parts arrive next week, they'll put me in a loaner. The Cam-Chain tensioner will take 2 days to perform. Then, the FSE and I will see if my car is fixed. If not, then it will take about 4 days to perform the valve lifter exchange.

Interesting point about the tensioner. Let us know how it develops.

Well there you go then...I take back my earlier comments about the FSE -- I thought he was the problem but it turns out the idiot was someone else...

Great news!! Good luck!!!

now that they officially acknowledged the problem it looks like you be close to filing a lemon law claim when they have your car another week in the shop..... I would start the process and dump the car.... who needs this kind of aggravation with a car.....

I really am kind of emotionally attached to my car. European Delivery will do that to you I guess. It took a couple months to pick the exact color, options, and transmission. Another 2 months waiting to pick it up in Munich. Seeing it for the first time in its birth place is something truly special. 1.8 miles on its odometer only, not a single scratch on its body, and that new leather smell..oh what an olfactory experience that was. Imagine driving in the Autobahn with the Alps in the background. What a feeling that was. And then another 2 months before taking redelivery.

I would have trouble deciding between a brand new 550i (evern if they were to offer me one without paying any extra for it) and my current car, fixed, that is. Let's see how it goes.

Excelent to hear.

I think you should report the service advisor to BMWNA if you can. I have always found that if you keep trying you will be able to find someone who can help you.

Keep in touch.

I'm in SoCal and also interested in which dealer you're using Speedracer.
