I have a 2004 545i smg. I have had it for a month and it has this chatter/rattle sound but only at 1200 rpms and lower but when I turn the wheel to the 10 or 2 o clock positions it stops. Sounds like its coming from the vacuum pump/brake booster I have no external leaks. And when I'm in a parking lot at lot speeds it rattles mainly turning. Please help, I'm on bimmer forums and no one there even replies. Or post when they resolve a problem I have been searching for a month now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just went out checked my oil power steering fluid. Then started messing with the vacuum hose going into the power brake vacuum pump and noise stopped. BMW of Sterling VA replaced the hose under recall before I bought it and now I think they just didn't put it on tight enough. I went on a hard test drive and came back pulled in driveway and................ Still no noise. So I think that was the issue I will repost tomorrow after my 52 mile drive to work

Well I realized this morning that my ac was on so I turned it off and the freaking rattle was there. Well at least it's getting warm out I will just leave the ac on for now. Unless ANYONE has an idea.
