Correct.
Obviously I have used indicated speed. Instruments have an inherent and purposeful overeading. The real numbers must be closer to the BMW numbers.

Still, the things' pretty fast for it's class.

Hey, Andy, looks like you've been picking up pointers from the pilots at work. Good show.

Hi Andy

Great video clips!!! Did you mount the cam on the headrest legs??

On my way over to see Iceman and Kigerka 2 days ago, I found a piece of the A3 relatively empty and I took this photo with my 6230 phone:

Unfortunately, I didn't have a long enough clear stretch to go right to the top (the car has had the limiter removed...) but I think the car will do at least 170mph considering I was just under 5K rpm with another 1300 rpm or so to go and the speedo needle couldn't go any further. At the time of the pic, the car was doing 160mph as displayed by the on board computer.

Andy - The whistling noise you hear above 220 is indeed a known manufacturing defect in the E60. There was a discussion about this but I can't find the thread. Iceman and I have both had the problem. BMW replaced my windshield under warranty no questions asked. Problem solved.

Hi Rob!

It was a sort of informal meet for me to undo Kris's steering wheel and have a look at Andre's heated steering wheel insides...

I was on my way through to the UK (or so I thought) and just stopped off in Frankfurt for a while.

Kris's car now has the M5 -/+ levers instead of his SMG push/pull levers, albeit the LED backlighting is dim because of an unforseen discrepancy in wiring diagrams from the BMW WDS system. My fault but it could not be avoided since this was the first time I've worked on an SMG car... However, I have the solution now and will fix it in Kris's car this coming Saturday (I'm driving over to his place in Orenhofen). How far are you from Orenhofen???

All the Best

Tim

Speed Limiter... you set it in the iDrive to warn yourself of over speed.

Can the speed limit warning be set on all E60's?
Never noticed it on any of my menus.

Great video! I was searching for something like that to compare with my M3 performance, since I am looking to replace it with E60.

Just check out my vid - http://66.225.211.242/~m3life/data/m3-0-220.avi
