I will keep You guys posted. I do not see the point why to change oil more frequently then needed this engine in europe has 25000KM oil interval why would it be different here? What is more important is not to step on it when engine is cold . and breake it in the right way. Oil changes are important but let's not overestimate it. I will keep You posted!

I have to ask though, what were the symptoms that led up to this? I have a 2004 545i sport, that acts weird when cold. Upon acceleration, it sort of "sputters" or hesitates. But then once warm, this all disappears. No ticking or anything though, as you were hearing....
Thanks, and again, congratulations! I'm sure you'll have a much better weekend now!

I knew about some issues that e60 has. Every car has it's own right? But I also knew that BMW has strong engines. Doubt it know. FU$#@$@ 54650 miles and needs total rebuilt. $10000 Toyota Yaris with it's 1.3 will do a lot more. I know things break. But a V8 engine not reaching 120.000 miles is a junk I am thinking what to call the one not beeing able to do 60.000. Damn it.

good thing is, most of the cases are with "happy end" and forum helps a lot to prevent things and fix them smarter.
