My Ride: 2005 530i (Silver-Gray, Gray Lthr., Anthracite Maple) with Steptronic, Prem. Pkg., Logic 7, Xenons & Chrome factory wheels.
Default

Have a 2005 530i (non-SP) and have noticed that the chrome trim on the drivers door (just above door handle) does not fit flush with the door and sits higher than the chrome trim on the passenger door. I assume that the problem is a broken or missing clip near the end of the door.

It's interesting that the majority of the non-SP cars that I have looked at also have the same problem, some worse than others!

Bought the car new in April 2005 and not sure how long the "adjustment" period is for fixing something like this. I hesitate to take it in since they just may screw up the paint removing the trim piece, but its been bugging me (you know how that is).

Any advice?

Martin

You mean this? I had the same problem... I had the dealer fix it and they scratched my door trim in the process of replacing... I waxed it and you cant tell unless you're looking hard...

EBM,

Yeah, same problem.

Paint damage is my main concern, if I decide to let the dealer fix it. With previous cars that I've owned, problems like this are only taken care of during the "Adjustment" period, NOT the full warranty period. Not sure how long the "Adjustment" period is with BMW.

Thanks for your reply, Martin

Really? not sure about adjustment period I got it done like a year out. Problem is... if I knew it was going to scratch the other trim I would have left it alone. I can push it back down every few days till it got worse.

Take it in for one thing and you get another thing come back broke.

That's my concern! Don't want to trade a small problem for a big problem.
