04 530i or 07 530i?
Im in the market for a 5 series and would like to hear some input from some of u guys who have owned this car. I've narrow it down to a 04 530i and a 07 530i. The thing is with the 04 it has 91k and the 07 has 95k.
I want the newer year 07 but im worried it'll break down faster since it has slightly higher mielage than the 04. Does these car usually start breaking down when they hit the 100k mark? Which year would be more reliable if my using this car as a daily driven? Or are they pretty much the same? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

4k is negligible with these cars, whereas a 3-year newer car is huge in terms of improved features and resale value.
There is no magic mileage where things start to break down. The important thing is how well the previous owners have maintained their vehicles. Get the service records and Carfax to see the vehicle histories. Also consider paying a qualified indie to inspect the car you're considering. I'm assuming the prices are comparable?

IMHO, that difference of 4K miles is irrelevant.
More relevant factor that should be considered is the maintenance history.
Both of those cars will go beyond 200K miles if there were properly maintained. M54 has been in production for many years and it's very reliable. N52 is relatively new engine.
Having owned a car with N52 engine, I am biased towards N52. Hence, my preference is for '07 530i.

My Ride: 530i
i have a 2005 530i with 103k miles. it runs like a champ but i do have oil leakage which i heard was an issue with our cars, especially transmission issues. i also have issues with the sunroof which i believe is also common. other than that I've heard our m54 engines are very reliable and have a strong build. with all that said, i would choose the newer 07 530i. i believe 07 e60s are LCI with newer idrive, headlights, tail lights, and ect. don't take my word for it, but you will be able to see the differences. i also believe the 07 has 250 something HP while the older m54 has 230 something HP. nothing to significant but the newer one is slightly more powerful. as for mileage difference, like everyone else is saying, 4k isn't that significant. if i were you id make a pro and cons list. which color do you like better, which one has a better exterior/ interior, which one has a clean record.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately the 07 530i was sold over the weekend . So onto plan b. I found a 08 528i with 74k mileage for $16,400. This might be the one.
Everything i was looking for in a 5 series, low mileage, sport/premium package and silver in color.
I dont know much about the 528i and havent heard much about it. Any problems with this model and how does the 528i compre to the 530i? Sorry for the newbie question as i am new to the bmw world.
