Acceleration times for the diesel range. Figures are for the 0-62mph sprint and are for cars with auto transmission (this adds about 0.2 secs to the manual gearbox times).

525d 8.3 secs
530d 7.3 secs
535d 6.5 secs

These cars are quick. What the figures don't tell you is the massive torque increase over the petrol cars which gives very strong mid range punch. Just look at the following time:

50 - 75mph (overtaking range)

530d 5.4 secs
545i 5.8 secs

BMW have not as yet published figures for the 535d but expect it to do this in around 5 secs. It really will give the V8 a real run for its money.

Those are pretty good response times for the 'd' series.

Turbo failure is mostly caused by lack of lubrication. The things can do 50,000 rpm and are lubricated by the mechanics on the engine. Therefor, you have to leave the engine running for a bit before shutting it off; to make sure the turbo stopped spinning and will not spin without lubrication.

But ISUK's is a bit too new for that.

You know guys, also BMW factory has mondays! And if You know how much per capita they consume beer...

But that crappy service in BMW GB dealers shops... What to say? I heard story about Rols service:

Lord (english of course) was driving in his RR somewhere upland hills and front axle went broken. He called RR Em number and not time at all copter arrived with new axle and fitters. They fixed everything and went away. Lord, honest man, called the service center about the cost of repair. Answer was that;"dear sir, RR front axles don't go broken!" and that's it.

Gentlemen this is service and that's how bullet proof image is created.

Great story!! I wish we could get that kind of service from our dealers.. I have some minor issues with my car and next time that it is in at the dealer I will clearly tell them that they need to solve it and not send me into the woods hoping that I'll get lost and won't complain anymore..
