If new then you would calculate plan and install. Are you using an ICOM diagnosis/programming. If not you will have to use standard tools because if you use ISTA I'm sure it's going to have you update other modules with a new install.
well tbh I was eyeing a used one since it was $90 vs $700. I have been researching all day how to code it with NCS expert and then using Ista D to calibrate. I’m using a kdcan not icom and have updated all my modules to the latest ecus avail.

I will probably just have to bite the bullet though and buy new, I’ve seen success stories go both ways it’s seems on this one. So frustrating.

I was asking so I can give you the right way ahead. Personally I would go used It's easier/cheaper and yes NCSEXPERT is the way to go. I believe the module should plug and play because it's not VIN specific.

You've been using k/dcan cable to update all your modules? Not saying you can't with a lot of them but there are a few if you try it will brick them. Some also have dependencies so you have to update multiple modules for the group to work or you end up with a "dead" module. Just FYI. I know you're doing your research.

no trust me I totally appreciate all the info. I am avoiding updating anything in the most/ccc.
Also for the VTG I’ve heard people say that I need to transfer the old data I think it’s clutch ware stuff. I guess I’m unsure how to accomplish this though when my current one is dead

Just do a transmission relearn in INPA.

awesome, look forward to it when I get the module next Tuesday.
so far I’ve done the
water pump/thermostat
oil filter housing seal
doing the oil cooler hoses tomorrow along with the belt and then spark plugs and coils.

the next think is investigating what sounds like an exhaust rattle at startup (I can hear the notorious wastegate rattle but the ecu update helped some there)

Imll report back on the VTG issue, thanks again.

Swapped modules, and tbh I think I did stuff in NCS expert properly but damn thats a hard tool to figure out, even with everyone online.
I also did the repair in INPA and it showed values on it running. All warnings are out and the system seems to be working just fine now. We'll see.
