Its really annoying cause I'll be on the highway and when I hear that chime, I'm like "Oh sh!t, not another flat tire!" And when I see that its just the snowflake, I'm like "No sh!t, its 20 degrees outside you stupid car!"

Is there a way to make the snowflake msg not come on?
I think the snowflake has a mind on its own--and a retarded one at that.

On the way to the airport Friday morning, it was 37 or perhaps a bit higher... a -ton- of black ice. I saw probably 6 or 7 accidents on the Dulles Toll road. There were 4 or 5 cars off in the ditch, and several smashed up vehicles on the side of the road. My sister was driving me, and her Mini slid quite a bit on the entrance ramp near my house onto 66W. I even saw a VA state trooper's vehicle that had been involved in an accident. Crazy crazy morning. It was warm and I don't think anyone saw it coming. All the conditions just aligned perfectly and a ton of black ice was the result.

I mentioned that I liked your real picture--the first one I think--where you have the DA on top of your head.

Not sure what you mean by 'DA' or what you mean by 'real picture'...

Joke. The first handsome picture you posted, as I recall, was the guy with what I can describe best as a duck tail or duck's ass (DA) on top of his head. You know duck-tail hairdos, right? Oh no, do you mean the first guy really is you?

The warning goes off when the outside temp falss to approx. 37.5 degrees F (3 degrees C) - that is all the manual says - and then gives a warning about black ice

It has not been above 37 since I bought my car, and I do not recall the warning everytime I start the car, but for you VNOD, I will check and keep you updated.
Thanks, and, really, you haven't been below 37 since you got your car? In my area of Phoenix, we have had quite a few mornings below 37 since then--and we are not exactly on the outskirts. Thanks again.

VNOD,

He stated he had not seen weather HIGHER than 37 degrees. I had to re-read because for some reason I could wrap my mind that people around the nation don't get such beautiful weather like here in Phoenix.

Thanks much, you are right. I thought that he was saying that he had not seen the warning for a while since it had not been 37 or below. But, he's saying sort of the opposite. Maybe the warning only shows up if, for example, it is above 37 in your garage and is, or drops, below 37 when, or shortly after, you drive out. Would that make sense for the snowflake system? No!!! Wouldn't the purpose of the snowflake system be to let you know any time icing may be a problem?

OK, I am confused again--in addition to being confused about not being able to sense AS and not knowing whether my headlight switch is in or out. Oh well. I always say the forums are great for clarifying things. But, sometimes , and they make me .

That's right. The warning only appears when the temp drops-to or climbs-to 37.5F(3C). Therefore, if the garage is below 37.5F and it never climbs-to 37.5...no warning will appear.

The first warning is 3 degrees then the car reads the correct temp outside so keep looking at you dash

I can understand that the snowflake chime at 37 is there to warn the driver about black ice. But, what is the purpose of the 115 cactus warning?

I am quessing you are joking, but knowing our cars, I would not be surprized. We drove Phoenix to Carlsbad last July and saw temps abov 115, But, I don't recall seeing the cactus warning. If there is one, then surely it means watch out for engine overheating.
