Don't get me wrong, I DO wear my seatbelt when driving further than 5 miles. But I live in a small town, and I am definitely not gonna wear my seatbelt when driving at 20mph to the shop a block away!

Not here to lecture, but an accident can happen at any time. I like the idea that the seat belt chime is so damn annoying. Yes, I put the belt on even if I drive to the convenience store which is about a mile away.

So car accidents within 5 miles of your house CAN'T be fatal??? Do what you like, but I would prefer the safety ALL the time!
+1

Sies, skaam jou om nie jou belt te dra nie!
Hehehe. Marius, Springbok se speedcops kyk nie vir seatbelts nie, hulle dra self nie!

I think wearing your seatbelt when you want to is a personal choice. I know for a fact smoking will kill you, and I have therefore stopped smoking a couple of years back. But I will never lecture anyone that smokes about the health risks involved with it. It's their personal choice whether they want to smoke or not. It should be the same with wearing your seatbelt.

Oh and by the way, I lost a friend ten years back who burned to death after his car collided with a taxi and caught fire. The seatbelt mechanism got jammed, trapping him in the vehicle...
