My seatbelt alarm chimes exactly 37 times before going silent. Anyone know why BMW would decide on such an odd number of chimes? Why not make it 30 or 40?

PS: I had it "silenced" by my service agent...
how did you get your sa to silence it??????

Don't get me wrong, I DO wear my seatbelt when driving further than 5 miles. But I live in a small town, and I am definitely not gonna wear my seatbelt when driving at 20mph to the shop a block away!

I love that sound, because it really makes me wear the seatbelt.
I haven't done that in my previous non-BMW's.

You know what?
I think I'm counting the chime in my car later today.
I find the sound polite... thus my dad's FORD (i just hate FORD.. sorry guys) it's irritating....

BMW:
"Ding, please put your seatbelt on..."

FORD:
"Bingbingbingbingbingbingbing.... put that fucking seatbelt on you fucking twat..... bingbingbingbingbingbingbing...."

My guess would be it is converted from the metric...

But what if....

some morone 17year old comes speeding in his piece of crap Trans-Am and smashes into you doing a 50mph, and you're not wearing a seatbelt ???

I look at it this way... "I trust myself as a driver, of course everyone makes mistakes and it could happen to me... BUT... what if someone else was to make these mistakes..."

You can NEVER know what everyone else is thinking or what they are doing....

Hope my answer is clear enough....

So car accidents within 5 miles of your house CAN'T be fatal??? Do what you like, but I would prefer the safety ALL the time!
