lately, the mornings are freakin freezing. Every morning, my car HAS to grind going from 1st to 2nd but only does it one time. I've had that in the past with my EVO and it was pretty normal. Just lightly slip into second anf third will ok. Has anyone experienced this with their e60?

every V8 BMW I've owned does this. i've had transmissions replaced only to get the same behaviour. sometimes I get 2nd, others i just keep going straight to 3rd. usually goes away by second stop. and "cold" for me is never less than 60degF. at this point I just live with it. if you're out of warranty, switching to royal purple synchromax helps a little.

it is much better in my e60 than it was in my e39, but then again, my car only has 24k miles right now. i imagine it will get worse as the miles pile on.

you try letting the car warm up for like a min before going? i use to gwt that with my mazda 626 when i would change from 1st to econd. but in our cars your dont have to wait but just give it a min to warm up next time and see what happens =)

Never had it happen. Does it matter how fast you shift?

What happens if you double clutch?

My stock E60 1-2 shifts in the cold are notchy but no grinding. This was the same in my E90. Did you remove the CDV, install a SB, or clutch stop? Also make sure you are completely depressing the clutch.

I had a similar griding sound that I would hear from the rear at low speeds ... Turned out it was my rear disferential ... Dealer replaced it, just the part it self was 2k glad warranty pick up the cost ... After that car drove quiet and more power from what I feel

i shift pretty slow, especially in the mornings. i haven't tried double clutching. i push the clutch pedal to the floor every shift.
