Default 2004 545i (e60) timing chain guide. NEED HELP!!!

Guys,
I've run into a problem with my baby and need some help.

I need a new timing chain guide on my car. The part number is 11317504461. But, when I call BMW or search online. It says the part is discontinued and the part is superseded by a new part number 11 31 7 533 489. But this part won't work for my car according to my local mechanic, a guy I fully trust and who knows his stuff. Any thoughts?? I would appreciate any help.

What is his explanation for why it won't work?

I looked this up at a couple sites. Only thing I can think of is that more needs to change and not just the guide rail. Have a look at http://bmwfans.info/. Click on the little "info" link under the part. Looks like the new part 11317533489 also requires the new parts chain tensioner 11317533483 and bolt 11317548033.
